In this seminar, speaker Larry Chester will help you understand not only the Profit and Loss statement, but the Balance Sheet and the Statement of Cash Flows as well.

Whether you’re a solo practitioner or part of a larger firm, if you’re getting financial statements, you’re going to want to know how to read them.  In this seminar, speaker Larry Chester will help you understand not only the Profit and Loss statement, but the Balance Sheet and the Statement of Cash Flows as well. This seminar will help you truly understand these financial statements, because it’s not just a matter of knowing what the numbers are and whether they are up or down from last month; you also need to understand what those numbers tell you about how your firm is doing, your availability of cash for distributions, and those long-term and short-term payments that have to be made. You want to know how those numbers are changing, and what they mean for your future and the future of your firm, and this seminar will help you do just that.

    Speaker:
Larry Chester served as a CFO for 25 years before starting his own consulting firm 16 years ago.  Since then, he has helped manufacturers, consulting firms and law firms find ways of operating more efficiently, and understand the reporting that provides guidance for the future, helping strategic decision-making.

Realizing that he enjoyed the challenges of helping business owners understand what they needed to do to improve cash flow and create wealth for their future, he hired a team of CFOs to help the many businesses that needed advice. Since forming CFO Simplified, Larry has been involved in Business Turnaround, and Mergers and Acquisitions, in addition to Financial and Operations Management for his clients.

Larry is an intuitive businessman, able to grasp complex situations, driving to the heart of the matter, while helping to develop creative solutions for strategic growth. He believes in providing sound financial leadership that business owners need right now.  His greatest pleasure comes from working with owners to institute tighter internal controls and greater profitability. In doing so, they work together, guiding the company to smoother operations and a stronger financial future. Larry lives in Northbrook, IL, where he holds court for his three daughters and eight grandchildren.

The CBA's sexual harassment prevention training session will better enable lawyers and law firm staff to prevent, combat and appropriately redress sexual harassment in the legal workplace, as well as understand the requirements set forth in Public Act 1010-0221.

The CBA's sexual harassment prevention training session will better enable lawyers and law firm staff to prevent, combat and appropriately redress sexual harassment in the legal workplace, as well as understand the requirements set forth in Public Act 1010-0221.  Under this Act, all Illinois employers with employees working in the State are required to train employees on sexual harassment prevention on an annual basis. The CBA’s training session meets the minimum standards for sexual harassment prevention training outlined in Section 2-109(B) of the Illinois Human Rights Act (IHRA) and is tailored to lawyers and other law firm staff.

Each attorney registration includes access for 5 additional law firm staff members to complete the training. Additional staff members may be registered for fee of $25 per every 5 registrants. Staff member participation will be tracked through the CBA’s webcasting system, and instructions will be provided as to how the employer can complete the State certification process for its employees. **Although CBA will facilitate certificates of completion for confirmed individual attendees, employer-participants, not CBA nor its volunteer trainers, are responsible for ensuring each of their employees satisfy the training requirements under the IHRA** Please email cle@chicagobar.org  to be provided a link to register additional staff members for the webinar. If an attorney wishes to receive IL MCLE credit for the program, they must individually register and attend the program.

Gail Schnitzer Eisenberg, Loftus & Eisenberg, Ltd.

As people age, they often attempt to get their affairs in order in terms of real estate, money, and physical belongings. Your passwords, social media accounts, and digitally stored photos and documents also need your consideration. If you don’t plan accordingly, your bereaved loved ones will likely have to spend hours of frustration on the phone with customer service departments or sleuthing around to solve problems on their own, often to no avail. In this often-requested seminar, we’ll discuss everything you need to keep in mind to prevent these headaches from happening.

    Speaker:
Anne Haag is a Practice Management Advisor at the Chicago Bar Association. Anne worked as a patent paralegal at a Chicago IP firm before arriving at the CBA in 2017 as the Law Practice Management and Technology department’s trainer/coordinator. She is also a certified crisis counselor and volunteers as a patient advocate in the ER.
