The speakers will discuss attributes of great JV formation processes, including the process and negotiation strategies that preserve Trust. They will also dispel key myths surrounding joint ventures -- such as more due diligence is better; the joint venture contract is make or break; weak advisors on the ‘other side’ is useful; and more. Focus will be on the role of advisors and processes that can both increase efficiency and deliver better client outcomes.
This program will leverage some key frameworks in the book Unlocking International Joint Ventures, discuss recent cases focused on managing the current situation, and provide an open and interactive discussion.

Special focus will also be given to the distinct writing demands of government practice versus private practice, including tone, audience, and institutional objectives. The seminar will also critically engage with the rise of Generative AI tools in legal drafting. Experts will explore why lawyers bully others, the impact of bullying on attorneys, and key data from the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism’s
Bullying in the Legal Profession report. In addition, the Commission on Professionalism will launch a special bullying prevention challenge for bar associations across Illinois.
