Interactive Workshop on the Use of Remote Expert Witness - Part 2 (4/7/2021)
Contains 3 Component(s), Includes Credits Includes a Live Web Event on 04/07/2021 at 3:00 PM (CDT)The program will consist of a series of live demonstrations by experts and judges. All participants, including members of the bench, the bar and the expert community, will be allowed to make assessments in real time.
The Illinois Supreme Court rules now provide that expert (and other) testimony can be heard remotely, which can save time, money for litigants and is more convenient for all involved. The Forensic Expert Witnesses Association (FEWA) and The Chicago Bar Association (CBA) have joined forces to offer a 2-part series which will provide guidance for Illinois judges and attorneys alike in determining how expert testimony should be conducted and regulated. Expert testimony in jury trials will be the focus of this second installment of the series.
The program will consist of a series of live demonstrations by experts and the following respected Judges: Alison Conlon, Thomas More Donnelly, Patrick Sherlock and Sanjay Tailor who will be the trial litigators. All participants, including members of the bench, the bar and the expert community, will be allowed to make assessments in real time. Bench and Bar audience members will then have an opportunity to share and receive feedback from participating judges, experts and litigators, during an interactive session following the demonstrations to determine the most effective and compelling best practices.
Current and retired members of the Judiciary are complimentary. Please RSVP to Jennifer Byrne at jbyrne@chicagobar.org.

How To…Present Exhibits Effectively While Remote & In-Person (3/25/2021)
Contains 3 Component(s), Includes Credits Includes a Live Web Event on 03/25/2021 at 10:30 AM (CDT)In this seminar, we’ll outline some very basic steps and settings attorneys can use to present documents and videos in a professional manner.
The way you choose to present exhibits in court can have a powerful impact on the narrative you’re attempting to weave during litigation. Technology can help you do this more effectively whether you’re in a court room or a court Zoom. In this seminar, we’ll outline some very basic steps and settings attorneys can use to present documents and videos in a professional manner. We will demonstrate how you can better utilize trial presentation software or alternatives like Adobe Acrobat or Windows media player. Lastly, we’ll discuss why it’s important for you to present in more polished way as opposed to falling into specific pitfalls (like allowing everyone else to see all your open windows). The ultimate goal of any trial attorney is to tell their clients’ stories. This storytelling now requires the competent use of all tools and technology at your disposal.
Speaker:
Kevin Doran is a trial technician and founder of Legal Tech Chicago. He has over 3 years experience as a hot seater, going to trial with attorneys and running the presentation for them. He has seen many trials from voir dire to verdict. He is passionate about expanding the use of legal technology by educating attorneys and their staff on how to leverage technology to make more effective and engaging trial presentations. To confirm you are ready to participate in an on demand webcast, please take the browser test here: http://eventcenter.commpartner...
