Topic: Analyzing Water for Practice

Speakers: Dr. Mila K. Marshall, Clean Water Advocate, Sierra Club Illinois

Dr. Mila K. Marshall is an ecologist, environmental scientist, educator, and clean water advocate whose work focuses on the intersection of water science, environmental policy, and environmental justice. As Clean Water Advocate for the Sierra Club Illinois Chapter, she works on the implementation and enforcement of the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act, including NPDES permitting, impaired waters, wastewater discharges, nutrient pollution, PFAS, lead service lines, and protections for drinking and recreational waters. She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Illinois Chicago and teaches environmental science at Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Marshall also serves on the Illinois Groundwater Advisory Council and Natural Resources Advisory Board, contributing scientific and policy expertise to the protection and management of Illinois’ water resources.
