Wills for Heroes Committee: Training Program (10/10/22)

A training session for attorneys who want to volunteer with the YLS Wills for Heroes program. The training prepares volunteer attorneys to draft basic wills and powers of attorney for local emergency first responders, veterans, qualifying COVID-19 essential healthcare workers, and their spouses or partners. The training topics include: purpose of wills and powers of attorney, their most prominent provisions, common pitfalls in drafting these documents, and answers to questions commonly posed by Wills for Heroes clients. This training is not intended to be comprehensive and does not cover such topics as trusts and taxes, as those subjects are beyond the scope of the program. This training is geared towards attorneys with little to no estate planning experience.
