The Path Forward for Domestic Violence Prevention (10/29/24)

This program addresses the many ways we can address the problem of domestic violence in our society, from social changes to needed legal and legislative reforms. It first addresses how to engage men as allies in domestic violence prevention. It then addresses legislative reforms that are pending in Illinois and others that are needed to improve outcomes for domestic violence victims. 

Part 1: The first panel focuses on the conditions that enable domestic violence to occur and the role men should play in shifting the culture. The panelists speak about their personal experiences with domestic violence, the psychological impact on victims, the far-reaching societal impact ranging from bullying to more extreme forms of violence. They also speak about how men can play a role in breaking the cycle.

Part 2: The second panel focuses on legislation that is needed to improve our systems for domestic violence victims, as well as the various ways that legal professionals can get involved to make a change.
