Recognizing and Responding to Mental Health Crises in the Workplace
Studies have consistently revealed concerning statistics about lawyers’ mental health. Lawyers have the highest rates of depression among occupational groups in the United States and the fifth highest rate of suicide. An individual’s odds of encountering a fellow lawyer who is experiencing suicidal ideation are not insignificant. There are many myths about suicidality that complicate how people feel equipped to handle interactions with people they suspect might be suicidal. In this seminar, we’ll learn how to recognize some signs of a mental health crisis in the workplace. We’ll dispel myths and stigma surrounding mental health crises and discuss how you can react in this situation to attempt to help the individual in crisis.
