Pro Bono with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services: Probating a Property with a Deceased Borrower

Co-presented by Jami Schlafer and Rima Sleiman of Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, this CLE navigates the critical intersection of estate administration and mortgage foreclosure litigation involving deceased borrowers. Attendees will gain practical strategies for confirming successors-in-interest, appointing representatives, and defending estate real property across overlapping probate and foreclosure proceedings. The session also covers key loss mitigation avenues under federal servicing rules, including loan modifications, assumptions, and disposition options available to heirs.
