Following a record-breaking year of Department of Justice False Claims Act settlements and judgments, prosecutors and regulators have made it clear that investigating and prosecuting suspected “waste, fraud, and abuse” in the healthcare system will be a top priority for 2026.
Similarly, growing public and regulators focus on privacy and cybersecurity is poised to impact scrutiny on various players in the life sciences and healthcare industry who deal with sensitive personal or health data.
Additionally, regulatory scrutiny and recent antitrust and unfair competition enforcement actions highlight key focuses that life sciences and health care companies should understand to remain compliant in a competitive environment.
This seminar is for practicing attorneys and law students working in or interested in working in the healthcare or life sciences space – a sector that accounts for nearly a fifth of the entire U.S. economy. It will provide accessible legal background on and key updates regarding Illinois health law, data privacy and cybersecurity, and antitrust and unfair competition.
