The Chicago Bar Association Mediation Services Group will present a program that will focus on best practices for mediating commercial, personal injury, probate and matrimonial cases. You will learn how to interview the mediator, the best way to prepare the client for mediation and about the lawyer's role in mediation. The panel will then discuss specific issues that arise in a variety of practice areas; ethical considerations; the attorney client privilege in mediation; preparing the client; interviewing the mediator; the opening statement in mediation; when is it time to mediate; confronting the "hard bargainer"; and written presentations.
