Description: A deep dive into the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence and Data Acts and how they impact global business.

This committee meeting will provide an overview of the rules for businesses under the AI Act, and how these rules apply to US businesses in particular. While adopted earlier this year, the AI Act is considered to be adopted as a ‘work in progress’ due to the various open points and references to implementing legislation. The seminar will therefore provide an update on the status quo in the EU on the AI Act.

The second part of the seminar will focus on the Data Act. Often in the shadow of the more well-known AI Act, the Data Act introduces significant changes for companies dealing with data. This includes mandatory data sharing related to IoT products, rules to prevent vendor lock in and new data transfer rules. These rules have material implications for data-driven businesses, including those in the US.
