The CBA Insurance Law Committee brings together an insurance claims leader, insurtech founder, and policyholder advocate to discuss the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and insurance claims. The panel will examine how the widespread adoption of AI tools is reshaping insurable risks and claims, including highlighting the ethical duties of lawyers using AI or advising clients who are leveraging AI. The panel will also discuss the insurance industry’s response to actual and expected claims arising from the use of AI, identifying the likely sources of coverage, potential gaps, and areas for debate. Finally, the panel will discuss the nuts and bolts of how insurers themselves are (or plan to) use AI in the investigation and handling of insurance claims, highlighting key opportunities and the associated risks that every business should be aware of.
