Inside/Outside Counsel Communication: Why Accurate Legal Messages Get Misunderstood — and What to Do About It
In-house and outside counsel may be working toward the same goal but still hear the same message differently because they have different pressures, priorities, and assumptions. This interactive program moves beyond general complaints about outside-counsel communication and gives participants practical tools for reading the room, anticipating how a message may land, and adjusting it before confusion or friction develops. Using realistic inside/outside-counsel scenarios and AI-supported exercises, participants will practice turning accurate legal advice into communication that builds understanding, trust, and action.
Speaker:
Daniel Steinberg, High-Stakes Communications Strategist, The Maggid Method
About the Speaker:
Daniel Steinberg helps lawyers communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively in presentations, panels, client meetings, interviews, and other high-stakes professional settings. He has delivered communication programs for LegalOps.com, the Organization of Legal Professionals, the Columbus Bar Association, and other legal audiences, and has worked directly with attorneys at Vinson & Elkins and Kirkland & Ellis. His programs combine practical communication methods with AI-supported preparation.
