The annual CBA/YLS Family Law Committee seminar will feature a panel of expert valuators and experienced family law attorneys to discuss the role of court-appointed and independent experts in valuing businesses, real estate, retirement accounts, and pensions in divorce proceedings. The goal is to educate family law attorneys on the types of assets commonly subject to valuation, the methodologies used by experts, and strategies for effectively incorporating expert testimony into settlement negotiations and litigation. Topics of discussion include the credentials and scope of work of various valuation professionals, best practices for retaining and working with experts, common challenges in cross-examination, and litigation strategies for presenting valuation evidence at trial.
