Dram Shop & Premises Liability (11/3/24)

Please join the Chicago Bar Association and the North Suburban Bar Association for a program on, “Dram Shop Liability and Toxicology: Bar, Restaurant, and Individual Exposure for Over-Serving Customers and Guests.” When someone under the influence of alcohol injures a person due to intoxication, the injured person may have a claim against whoever provided the alcohol: the server, the owner/operator of an establishment, and even the host of a private party. Plaintiff’s attorney Michael Gallagher (Gallagher Law Offices LLC) and defense attorney Matthew Burke (Heineke & Burke, LLC) will discuss the Illinois’ dram shop statute, elements that need to be proven, common defenses and allegations that will trigger exclusions to insurance coverage. Finally, the presenters will also discuss the role of toxicology and providing admissible and persuasive evidence of intoxication. The CLE session will take place at Whiskey River Bar & Grill (1850 Waukegan Rd, Glenview, IL 60025) from 1:00-3:00pm.  Attendees are then invited to stay for a networking social from 3:00-5:00pm, with performances from Irish musicians and the Bears v. Carolina Panthers game at 5:00pm.
