Cannabis Rescheduling Through Litigation/Regulatory/Transactional Perspectives
Cannabis rescheduling remains one of the most significant federal developments affecting the industry in decades. Following the Department of Justice’s April 2026 actions and the DEA’s formal hearing regarding the proposed rescheduling of marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III, attorneys and industry stakeholders are closely watching for changes that could reshape litigation strategies, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions.
This program brings together litigation, regulatory, and transactional practitioners to examine the current status of federal rescheduling efforts, discuss key developments arising from DEA’s formal hearing, and analyze the practical implications of a potential Schedule III designation. The panel will explore how rescheduling could impact enforcement, licensing, financing, M&A activities, tax considerations and compliance obligations across the cannabis industry.
Attendees will leave with a current understanding of the rescheduling process, its legal significance, and the issues practitioners should be monitoring as this area of law continues to develop.
