Advancing Social Justice Initiatives Through ADR (1/17/24)

Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is a popular term in the legal world, but what some may not know is that ADR is a proven mechanism to achieve social justice results because people learn how to peacefully solve problems as well as new processes and skills to manage conflict. The American Arbitration Association – International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR), in support of and as part of the CBA D.I.C.E. Initiative (Diversity, Inclusion, Culture, Equity & Engagement), would like to help CBA members learn about social justice focused organizations and how they use ADR to effect change in this second annual program. The AAA-ICDR Foundation was established in 2015 to fund projects that promote conflict resolution and prevention in communities across the world. Since then, the AAA-ICDR Foundation has donated millions of dollars to projects that have fostered change through alternative dispute resolution. CBA members often serve on boards or represent not for profit organizations in their communities and this program will offer information about how ADR can be used to meet the needs of those organizations.

The event will be co-sponsored by the CBA D.I.C.E Committee and the YLS Racial Justice Coalition.
