A Conversation About Deportation and The Law (4/7/25)

Join attorneys Nancy Vizer and Richard Hanus for a panel conversation about the current legal landscape on immigration law with a focus on deportations. The program will start with a background on immigration applications and the risks noncitizen applicants face, including scenarios where their status could be jeopardized or lead to being placed in deportation proceedings. We will then discuss the class of activities that could make someone deportable as well as various defenses or requests for relief to deportation. The conversation will end with an overview of deportation proceedings and what rights potential deportees have in the context of these proceedings. Throughout the panel discussion, as appropriate, presenters will discuss their experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds in the immigration law context and provide guidance to help practitioners gain cultural competency. Q&A will follow. The panel discussion will be co-hosted and facilitated by the Decalogue Society of Lawyers.
