TOPIC: Jury Instruction Reconstruction:  Latest Civil IPI Trends

SPEAKERS/ORGANIZATIONS: Judge Elizabeth Budzinski, Cook County Law Division. Judge Liz Budzinski is assigned to the Law Division Jury Section in the Circuit Court of Cook County, presiding over bench and jury trials in complex personal injury and commercial cases. In addition to trials, she also conducts pre-trial settlement conferences and mediations. Prior to her present assignment, she handled a high-volume Law Division Motion Call. Elected an Associate Judge in April of 2003, she was assigned as a trial judge in the Domestic Relations Division after an initial short stint in Traffic Court and the First Municipal District.

Amanda Brasfield, KJS Law. Amanda is one of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz’ most experienced trial attorneys.  From medical malpractice to construction accident negligence, Amanda has obtained a number of multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts. Amanda has worked on hundreds of complicated medical malpractice cases involving birth injuries, cerebral palsy, surgical mishaps, delayed diagnosis of cancer, and missed diagnosis of conditions such as heart attack, stroke, infection, sepsis, hemorrhage, meningitis, abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm (AAA and TAA), and shock.  From depositions through trial, Amanda works tirelessly to uncover what proper medical practices were not followed and what steps could have been taken to prevent injuries and deaths related to medical care. Joseph A. Giannelli, Cassiday Schade LLP. Joseph A. Giannelli focuses his practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis on professional negligence, product liability, and construction law. Joe has served as both first and second chair in cases involving a variety of medical specialties, including emergency medicine, perinatology, cardiovascular surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, neuropsychology, and neuroradiology, as well as cases claiming construction related injury/damage, malicious prosecution, false imprisonment, and battery. In addition, he has extensive experience defending medical practitioners, health care organizations, nursing homes, and other specialties in cases that were resolved prior to or during trial. Joe has previously been recognized by the National Law Journal as having obtained one of the top ten defense verdicts in the country.
