The Student Loan Crisis and Ways to Find Relief (05/24/22)

Student loans are the second largest form of consumer debt, totaling over $1.5 Trillion. In this seminar, we will take an in-depth look at the economy and the factors that are impacting the over 43 million Americans who hold student debt. We will look at what has recently transpired, starting with the CARES Act of 2020, and the future of student loan debt relief in America. The seminar will focus on tips for managing your student debt and, most importantly, how you can start on your path to financial independence. Ted Kontopoulos, YLS Executive Council Officer, will conduct a moderated discussion with Jeff Gold, Sofi’s Director of Business Development, about the current student loan landscape and new forms of legal relief for borrowers.

Jeff Gold is the Director of Business Development for SoFi and currently is the dedicated Account Manager for the Chicago Bar Association. Jeff has been with SoFi for three years and has extensive experience working with SoFi’s legal partners and Bar Associations. Prior to joining SoFi, Jeff held various roles helping organizations align their benefits with their employee wellbeing goals. Jeff currently lives in beautiful New Jersey with his wife and two young children; where he constantly thinks about how he is going to pay for their college education!
