Starting Your Solo Practice: Money Matters (11/15/2021)

One of the areas in which new solo practitioners struggle most acutely is accounting. Lawyers try to be the bookkeeper for their practice and fail, simply because they don’t have the training required to excel in this department. In this seminar, we’ll cover the following facets you need to be aware of in order to manage your firm’s finances:

- Budgeting and forecasting
- What Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) you should start to build immediately upon forming your practice.
- Accounting software and how it intermingles with your other technology components (like document storage, practice management software, etc.)
- Accounts receivable: beginning with your engagement letter, how to set and be upfront about your fees, and how to collect when the time comes.
- Who your key financial players are and how to work with them more efficiently.

You’ll leave with a greater awareness of how to manage your money effectively and responsibly.
