A Conversation with City of Chicago Corporation Counsel (12/11/23)

This is a hybrid event with an in-person and a webinar option. Please select the appropriate button when registering if you plan to attend in-person. Event will be held at the Chicago Bar Association, 321 S. Plymouth Court, Chicago, IL 60604. A reception sponsored by Trinal Inc. and Aronberg Goldghen Davis & Garmisa immediately following.

The CBA Civic Committee, DICE Committee and Public Affairs Committee are pleased to welcome Mary Richardson-Lowry, the first African American woman to be appointed Corporation Counsel to the City of Chicago. As the lead attorney for the City of Chicago, Richardson-Lowry leads one of the largest law departments in the United States and provides legal counsel and representation for the City’s Departments, Boards, and the Chicago City Council. Richardson-Lowry will discuss how her experience in both the public and private sector will inform her current role. She will also discuss how she intends to guide the City of Chicago through today’s major legal challenges, which are impacted by a climate of social change and increasing diversity.

Richardson-Lowry brings to the role an extensive legal background, including serving as a former partner at Mayer Brown LLC, former General Counsel at privately held Ililewa, former Chair of the Chicago Community Trust, former Buildings Commissioner, and various other legal, leadership, and management roles within the city of Chicago. This role also marks a return to the City of Chicago for Richardson-Lowry, who spent her formative career years as an attorney in the Law Department for the City of Chicago.

This program is co-sponsored by the CBA’s Civics Committee, DICE Committee, and Public Affairs Committee. Audience members are welcome to submit questions in advance when registering. Join us for a reception sponsored by Trinal Inc. and Aronberg Goldghen Davis & Garmisa immediately following the program.
